Event decorator and set designer Simone Zanatta, who organizes large events at the Center Convention, comments on the use of suspended elements. “Hyperstructures have become one of the main elements of decoration. It's a trend that's here to stay and contributes greatly to further personalizing the event. It helps ensure that the decoration is immediately noticed by the guests. The ground-level part is also very important, it demands refinement, but the aerial part is what dictates the visual aspect,” emphasizes the decorator. 

Styles and elements of aerial decoration

For Simone, aerial decoration is versatile and can be adapted to various possibilities. “Aerial decoration suits all styles: from rustic to classic. In rustic styles, we can use bamboo lamps, vines, flowers, and baskets. For something classic, we have crystal chandeliers and more rounded arrangements. We can also use technology, with LED screens, mapped images coming from the ceiling that can simulate waterfalls, forests, for example. Aerial decoration complements everything, and the sky's the limit,” comments the specialist. 

 

To prepare aerial decorations, it's possible to combine elements or have one predominate. What's necessary is to be careful in the choices to maintain harmony. In this case, having a qualified professional for event decoration and set design is essential.

Lights and chandeliers

Regarding the use of flowers, Simone shares an important tip: "We always try to work with dried and artificial flowers to avoid water accumulating in the suspended part," the expert explains. 

Foliage will help create a cleaner, more monochromatic environment, while also making the space more beautiful. A commonly used species for aerial decoration is the fern, due to its voluminous shape and beautiful cascading effect. 

In addition to these elements, wicker balls, fabric domes, Japanese lanterns, and mirrored balls should also be included on this list. 

 

Tips for creating an aerial decoration

Interior decorator Simone Zanatta also warns about the details that hosts should plan when using aerial elements in their event. 

“Not every place is suitable for aerial decorations. It’s important to consider the setup time, how it will be done, and whether the event venue allows for this format. Depending on what is being placed, if it’s heavy, it’s necessary to structure the aerial display, use trusses, and coverings.
