At the Center Convention Center, we host several corporate meetings every month that bring together professionals from the same or similar fields. In June, one of these events was the Contec National Meeting.

The Contec National Meeting is one of the most anticipated events on the calendar of Union Leaders in Banking, Insurance and Cooperatives. In addition to providing networking opportunities among participants, the event also encourages...The union and coordination of different unions across the country for the collective construction of various important agendas for the sector.
The event is organized annually by National Confederation of Workers in Credit Companies And each year it is held in a different city, featuring different speakers.
The objectives of Contec
But what exactly are the objectives of Contec? The Contec National Meeting, in addition to promoting the exchange of knowledge and contact between professionals, has as its main mission to discuss various topics concerning the sector. Beyond the topics themselves, it also aims to approve them and then deliver them to Fenaban – which is the... National Federation of Banks – to then begin negotiations with public and private banks.
All of this is done to seek improvements and innovations for the sector, as well as to highlight the main demands of the banking category. Ana Paula Guedes is... special advisor to the president of CONTEC, and she reinforces how the event works:
“Every year we create our list of demands regarding our collective bargaining agreement. So we meet beforehand to work towards these clauses that we have to deliver to the banks, and then at the end we always have a moment to celebrate the completion of our demands,” he explained.
Center Convention hosted the 51st edition.
In 2024, the Center Convention was chosen to host the 51st edition of the Contec National Meeting in June. During the meeting, topics such as salary adjustments, improvements in benefits, working conditions, health, safety, and inclusion and diversity policies in the banking sector, for example, were discussed.
To accommodate the more than 400 professionals, the Convention Center was chosen as the venue for the Contec National Meeting, set up with a main stage and, instead of the traditional auditorium format, the organizers opted to seat participants at tables of 8 people. Here's an interesting tip: this format encourages conversations and the exchange of ideas among those present!

“We were thinking of a space that could accommodate at least four hundred people, and it was a perfect fit when we saw that the Mercure Hotel was in the same complex as the Convention Center. Furthermore, I thought that in addition to the good service, the infrastructure was very good and modern, for example, without pillars in the middle,” he shared.
What we learned from the Contec National Meeting
As with other events, hosting the 51st Contec National Meeting at the Center Convention provided several important lessons. From preparation to execution, each stage was an opportunity for learning and improvement for our team. Here are two points that caught our attention.
National events? Practicality is key.
One of the main lessons learned was the importance of practicality in organizing large-scale national events. The logistics involved in receiving participants from various parts of the country are complex and require meticulous planning.
Therefore, one issue that Ana Paula shared that was very positive is the fact that... Mercure Hotel Being located in the same Center Shopping Complex as the Center Convention Center allowed participants from other cities and states to be accommodated in practically the same space where the event took place. This made issues like transportation and food much simpler and more accessible.

Another significant lesson learned was the importance of bringing together professionals from the same field in a single event. The Contec National Meeting demonstrated how the exchange of experiences and knowledge among professionals can strengthen agendas, generate valuable insights, and boost the sector's development. The presence of professionals from different regions and backgrounds enriched the debates and provided a broad view of the trends and challenges faced by the industry.
